May round-up: Nurturing Growth 🌱

May was a month full of connection, creativity and community spirit for our Nurturing Growth project at Skipton Step into Action!

πŸͺ– We kicked things off in style with our VE Day Spring Fair, which raised over Β£150 for SSIA. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to support our cause, and we were especially pleased to welcome the Men’s Shed, who brought along some fantastic handmade woodwork items to sell. To commemorate VE Day, we also enjoyed group visits to Skipton Town Hall’s 80th VE Day exhibition, which sparked some lovely conversations and shared memories.

πŸ“š May also saw a trip to the local Oxfam Bookshop, giving people a chance to explore the joy of second-hand books and support another great charity.

☎️ We were pleased to host a BT Digital Voice drop-in session, offering valuable advice around the upcoming landline switchover and how to stay connected.

🫢 Looking after our wellbeing was a strong theme this month. We took part in a Bradford District & Craven Safe Spaces workshop, where we created our own self-care boxes, a gentle and practical reminder to look after ourselves.

🎼 Music and community came together when we visited Abbeyfield Care Home and enjoyed a joyful singalong with residents, a beautiful moment of shared smiles and voices.

🌷 And finally, our green-fingered participants helped brighten up the Fisher Medical Centre outdoor space, planting up the planters and adding a lovely splash of colour for all to enjoy.

From singing and planting to fundraising and workshops, May was a perfect reflection of what Nurturing Growth is all about; supporting each other to grow, connect and thrive.
