A very special visit!
What a wonderful day we had at Nurturing Growth today! Our friends had a visit from Joe Whitehead and his family to introduce them to the group that their Granny Sue attended each Thursday for over two years!
Our CEO Charlotte Mckeown thanked Joe and his family for his amazing fundraising achievement climbing Mount Snowdon raising £2,400 for Nurturing Growth, in honour of his late granny Sue who loved attending the group.
Joe along with his brother Sammy, mum Kirsty, cousin Dotty and grandad Mike sat outdoors with the singers and our choir master David to sing together and sang Edelweiss, one of the first songs their Granny Sue sang with the group in the park.
We enjoyed rainbow cake and Joe and Sammy helped Volunteer Judith add pieces to our mosaic.
Project Coordinator Sarah Wilson thanked and gifted Joe with a photo album of photos of his granny Sue and her time at Nurturing Growth, enjoying her walks and singing with the groups.
Joe’s mum, Kirsty said: “The boys loved that the singing group sung one of their Granny’s favourite songs!”
Grandad Mike commented: “We had a lovely time. The boys are signing up for the Santa fun run and looking forward to seeing everyone again then. Thanks again for looking after us”
We will always remember Sue and look forward to seeing the Whiteheads again soon!
